To safely fix a tripped power supply, locate your switchboard, unplug your appliances, and reset the tripped switch.
- Finding and Resetting the Switch
- Find the board: Go to your switchboard (usually in the garage, laundry, or near the front entrance).
- Look for the tripped switch: Find the lever that is flipped to the "off" position or stuck in the middle.
- Turn it off then on
You should stop resetting your electrical panel and call a licensed Electrician if:
- The breaker trips instantly, even with nothing plugged into the outlets.
- You smell burning, notice melted plastic, hear buzzing sounds near the panel, or see scorch marks.
- The tripped switch feels incredibly hot to the touch
